Story:
A dark humour with an intense sexual desire, Lester Burnham (Kevin Spacey) starts off by narrating this compelling movie, by telling the audience that he’ll be dead by the end of this film. As enthralling as it sounds, the movie couldn’t be off to a better start. Lester is a middle age magazine executive who despises his job and loathes his neurotic wife Carolyne (Annette Bening) who is an ambitious real estate broker. They have a 16 year old daughter Jane (Thora Birch) who has low self-esteem and abhors her parents. The unwinding twists in the tale with Lester quitting his job and literally wanting the live best of his life and also getting infatuated with his daughters friend, Angela(Mena Suvari). Carolyn who secretly has an affair with another real estate agent Buddy(Peter Gallagher). Lastly Jane who falls in love with the boy next door( Ricky) who has a fetish for voyeurism and death. Each twist leading to another leading to the death of the main protagonist.

Cast:
Kevin Spacey won the Academy Award for the best actor for this film. This itself tells us how great and scintillating he was. His free nature, grit and lustful glances in this film will surely win your hearts. The other supporting cast were great and astonishing and have done a mind blowing job in natural essence in the movie.

Director:
Sam Mendes shows the audience and also relates with a few on how an individual wants to live an American dream and has not failed so. He was so good with that he won the Academy Award for the best director and also the Academy Award for the best film

Cinematography:
Conrad Hall won the Academy Award for best cinematography for this film and I wouldn’t be surprised. He has not failed to bring out the morbid humour of each and every character.

Music:
Thomas Newman one of the best American composers of all time, scores a beautiful background score with the featured song
” Any other name”, for which he won the Classical Brit award

Final Verdict: An unique, deceitful black comedy movie, this Oscar winning movie is a must watch
