OMG – Oh My God! is a 2012 Hindi film, written and directed by Umesh Shukla starring Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar and Mithun Chakraborty as the main leads. This film is a remake of the 2001 Australian film “The man who sued God”.

Kanji Lalji Mehta(Paresh Rawal), a cynical middle-class man who runs a store of antiques and Gods idols, is an atheist who tries to put logic in his wife’s and people’s head who blindly follow every ritual under holy name to impress Gods. One day, his life turns upside down as an earthquake occurs and destroys his only shop to the ground. He feels miserable but not worried as he is insured. Later he gets to know about a clause in the contract mentioning “No payment on act of God”. Kanji becomes furious and decides to sue God and files a lawsuit against Him with the help of a poor muslim lawyer Hanif Qureshi(Om Puri) and the rest of the story is how he wins the case with the help of the God Himself.
Immediately after the case is filed and legal notices are sent to the insurance company and Godmen, Kanji starts facing harassments and threats. The mortgage bank to which he is indebted to, occupies his house. As a result of this, his wife and kids leave him. He is rescued from all this by a real estate agent Krishna Vasudev Yadav(Akshay Kumar) from Gokul, Uttarpradesh. Krishna helps Kanji with his case that makes the case stronger with a valid statement, but Kanji suffers a stroke in the court which makes him go into a comatose state and leaves him paralyzed. He finally recovers after a month and finds Krishna, who reveals that he is the God and proves it by curing him. Kanji is left spellbound, and it takes him a while to understand everything around him. Krishna explains that he creates everything in the world but the boundaries in society are apparantly created by humans which goes by many names like caste, religion etc. He also admits that he was the one who destroyed his shop because he sought to punish the people who do business in the name of God referring to the so-called godmen, who earn money by making people believe in false beliefs. He did this so that, an atheist like Kanji would end up exposing them.
The movie revolves around the stereotypes of the society where people have stopped caring about the ones who die of hunger, instead worship a rock sculpture and offer money and food to it in large quantities.
Later Kanji realises that God exists, not in the temples we built but in the creatures he created.

OMG is a Paresh Rawal’s movie. His strong acting skills completely justify his role and this makes it a pleasure to the audience to watch the movie on the big screen.
