Khaleja is that movie which makes us think about our self and the society, for a second. The impact of this movie wasn’t huge initially, but with time, it has made people think a lot of things like humanity and kindness in little gestures. The movie was not commercial success, but has got critical acclaim from many. The movie brought out the best of Mahesh Babu, specially his timing and sense of humour. Trivikram, made sure that the dialogues were relatable for everyone, realistic and satirical on the society, yet he managed to not sound offensive. These are few dialogues that made the movie a special one in our hearts:
Raju: Taxi driver ga ujjogam occhindi thatha, neeku sugar kada anduke sweets teledu
Thatha: Santhosham ra, cleaner autavemo ani khangarupadda
Seetha Ramaraju aka Raju, was a poor-performing student as a kid and grandson of a maths school teacher. His performance was always low and never picked up in his life. Eventually he ends up getting a job as taxi driver, he then comes to his grand father and has this conversation. This scene shows us the pettiness in the life of Raju, who is just any other taxi driver.
Deenni muttukunte? Masi, Pattukunte? Nasanam, Pellicheskuntey? Matteyyyy
Lost in the desert, Babji, Raju and Subhashini, meet Tom cruise, who is a plant researcher and has a bus. He agrees to help them reach their destination in Rajasthan. Raju, suspects that Subhashini exerts negative energy and feels when she is around, only bad things happen. As he says, a bunch of villagers come to them and serve food for free, while dismantling the whole bus, leaving the plants.Tom then says this dialogue to Raju and agrees that she really is a person who attracts negative energy like the book Secret says, according to law of attraction.
Tantrik: Amma cheppindi saami, nu nippu tho occhav, neeru tho vacchav
Raju: Actually nen debba tho occha, ippudu kattu tho ellipotunna
After a fight with unknown goons, trying to save Subhashini, Raju loses his conscious and falls off on the ground. Meanwhile, Siddha who is sent on search by Tantrik ,comes to an end as all the signs around him show him that Raju is who he is looking for all this time, that is he is the God who is coming to save his village. Later he wakes up in the village named Pali, and everyone around him falls on his feet which our poor Raju doesn’t understand. Tantrik then tells him that all the signs around, while Siddha saved him, were that of what his mother has told . As Raju doesn’t believe all this and says that dialogue. The dialogue brings the timing and spontaneity in Mahesh Babu perfectly, with a very realistic line.
Nee navvu varam, nee kopam saapam, nee maata shasanam
Raju doesn’t believe when Tantrik says that he is God, so he wants to test if really things happen if he wants it to happen. He points at a wall and says “ Aa goda ippudu koolipovali” and Siddha just runs towards the wall and kicks it until it falls. Raju then reiterates that he wanted it to fall on its own not by external force. Tantrik then says this dialogue that if he really wants things to happen, it’ll happen by hook or crook. In this scene, Tantrik, Siddha’s and other villagers’ eyes are filled in belief that he has come to do something good for them. That belief is what the whole movie is based on. God may or may not be there, but the power of belief in us, is what drives us.
Adbhutam jarige mundu evaru gurthinchaleru….jarigina tarvatha gurthinchalsina avasaram ledu…..
Swami Idhi nee dharshanam.. idhi nidharshanam
Raju still doesn’t believe him and tries to go away from there, Tantrik then says this dialogue. The point here is that no matter what the villagers say, Raju doesn’t want to believe them. Tantrik wants to be realistic at this point of time, because he wants to convince Raju.
Devudi definition artham aipoindi bhayya, devudu ekkado paina undadu, neelo nalo Manalo ne untadu…eduti vadiki help kavali annappudu dhaaatttt ani baitiki occhestadu
When Siddha tries telling him that he is God and Raju wants to see, how does he think he is God, he goes on an experiment. He stops a bike and asks for 10/-, the guy refuses and goes away. He then stops a car and asks the same, he takes a 100/- and goes away. Raju then buys some food for a kid on the road. Tom then asks why did he do that, then Raju explains that the first time he didn’t have any intentions while asking for money, but the second time, his intention was to buy food to that small kid and says this dialogue. This scene is used for depiction of his thought process and ideology in the most subtle and creative way.
Saami sikharam, chetlu em cheyyalev
Raju understands why the villagers of Pali dying everyday and tries to go deeper into it. He first kidnaps the medical officer who was in charge of the medical camp and his dean. They tell him about a man named Govardhan who is actually handles GK’s plans. The medical officer says that it is impossible to kidnap as his built is bigger than that of Raju. Siddha then says this dialogue, saying that nothing can beat God and he can kidnap him easily.
