Plot:
The movie begins with the deaths of multiple people, who get killed by snake bite. We then learn that they die, because they try to know more about Subramanyapuram and the temple there. Karthik, who is an MBBS student is very notorious, logical, and well with wits. He doesn’t believe in any supernatural things and is very keen on observing. He likes Valli and tries to woo her in every way but she keeps ignoring him and doesn’t bother to show interest. He has an instinct that when she is around, only good happens with him(irony!) and tries to stick around her. They are sent on a medical camp to Subramanyapuram by the college and Karthik learns that it is Valli’s hometown. He then sees that everyone is scared of something and is always with the fear of death. He soon knows about the conspiracy behind the temple and ends the mystery.
Characters and cast:
Nikhil’s performance as a no-nonsense medical student, Karthik, is great. His acting was on point and it suited him very well. Swathi on the other hand was just as natural as she is and just blended well with the story and the backdrop. Her performance was effortless. Rao Ramesh was amazing like always and stood out with his cunning looks and dialogue delivery. He was apt for the role and we just can’t imagine anyone else in that role. Tanikella Bharani is another actor who made us spellbound with his simple yet powerful role. Praveen and Sathya as Karthik’s friends were used perfectly for bringing a comical angle to the film and lighten few scenes.
Direction and Cinematography:
This film was Chandoo Mondeti’s first one and he didn’t disappoint us. He made sure that the movie was gripping and to the point. The story was also by him and it wasn’t draggy, to fill the gaps. Chandoo’s attempt was very positive. He tried to show the different angles in the same frame and didn’t make it look clumsy too. The movie goes properly and doesn’t hurry the viewer to jump to conclusions, the mystery was revealed neatly and the loose ends were tied properly at the end. The scene where Karthik’s mother and his niece get lost in a jungle, which is less than 5 minutes, was the best scene and the movie could have more scenes like that. The cinematography was by Karthik Ghattamaneni and he just nailed it. The scenes were intriguing and were promising for the audience to focus on the story without deviating. Though the movie wasn’t as thrilling as it was expected, the director filled the air with the fresh breeze, with this movie. The approach was new and was experimental.
Music and sound design:
The music was by Shekar Chandra and was great. The movie owes him for the best background score. All songs were a hit and were new to listen to. The song, “Saripovu” is still heard on radios. The other song, “Inthalo” was another hit, and “Punnami Vennalla ke” was apt as the background song.
