The past five years have been spectacular for the young director turned actor, Tharun Bhascker. He has been enjoying his success in Tollywood and established his mark in making films.

Since his childhood, he was very passionate about films and film making. With this immense love towards films, he graduated from New York Film Academy. With Anukokunda, Tharun’s first short film, which was released eight years ago in 2012, he fulfilled his dream of directing a short film. This short film won the Best Film award at the 48HR Film Project competition in 2012. Anukokunda was screened at the Cannes Short Film Corner in 2013. For a person, who just started his career, this is a huge accomplishment. Tharun’s next step towards success is his next short film Sainma, which came three years after Anukokunda. He not just directed this, but also did a great job at writing the story. The exceptional storyline and wonderful dialogues made Sainma outstanding and added soul to it. Besides directing, he also edited the film for which people don’t get proper recognition. Both Sainma and Anukokunda both stood out to be the biggest hits on YouTube.

Those short films not just paved a way for Tharun towards the Film industry, but also brought huge recognition for actors like Ritu Varma and Rahul Ramakrishna. After these short films came Pelli Choopulu in 2016. Tharun’s first full-length feature film got a positive response not only from Telugu audiences but all over India. Pelli Choopulu won two National Film Awards, two Filmfare Awards and a SIIMA Award. With huge accolades, his struggles and hard work paid off. After his success with Pelli Choopulu, he directed Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi, which was released in 2018. With movies like Mahanati, Falaknuma Das and Meeku Mathrame Cheptha, he emphasized the actor in him.

These movies revolve around youngsters and the obstacles they face while they strive for achieving what they want. Both his films talk about the struggles youngsters go through. His films are close to reality and the audience connects with the movies while they watch. His content binds the audience as they easily relate with the scenes and can see themselves in few of them. Pelli Choopulu connects people who struggle with their career and the pressures from their parents. Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi too pulls audience who yearn to work for their happiness and satisfaction. Tharun surprises people by portraying the realities of students from an engineering background. His movies attract students as they have an amazing storyline, natural performances and clean humour. Another reason why the audience feels closer to his films is that his characters speak the language spoken by most of the youngsters. His characters pull off Telangana dialect with ease. Besides giving realistic content, he also gave great stuff for meme creators. The scenes with Vijay Devarakonda, Priyadarshi and Abhay in Pelli Choopulu stand out to be hilarious. One particular scene with Priyadarshi and Anish Yohan is still being used as a meme template by meme creators. And the scenes between Vivek, Kaushik, Karthik and Uppi in Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi will never be forgotten. Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi gave lots of meme templates for people to share and relate. “Thagudham mama thagudham!” , “Naa saavu nen sastha neekenduku” are the highlights.
