The Tollywood industry has been witnessing unique content, vibrant cinematography, splendid stories, top-notch performances and marvellous direction for quite a long time. Besides these extravagant films, Tollywood is also blessed with movies like Mental Madhilo. Though such movies have quite a predictable story, with simple and exquisite performances and brilliant presentation, such films become memorable and lovable.

Aravind Krishna the protagonist, being confused with life’s multiple options, finds himself landing in a twisted situation of choosing a woman as his life partner. He is always shy and nervous around women. From being uncomfortable around women to loving two women, his journey is what is shown in Mental Madhilo.

General rom-com films showcase how the leads of the film meet, fall in love and get together. Mental Madhilo is appreciably different. This film revolves around the lives of three individuals where it depicts the problems people face during the marriage. What kind of pressures individuals go through, what kind of confusion and void they create within themselves is what this film is about. Being a way different from other superhit rom-coms in Tollywood, this film did leave a decent mark in the audience’s minds and hearts. The buzz created for this low budget film was worth it.

Both the women Swetcha and Renu showed in the film are independent and very joyous. They are depicted to be headstrong and unpredictable, unlike Aravind. Their weightage in the film turned out to be a plus point. The film is shown not only from the male protagonist’s view but also from these women’s point of view. The balance between male and female protagonism is maintained very well.

Mental Madhilo takes off slowly, leaving the audience to wonder what is so special about this film. As the audience continues watching, they forget to wonder and automatically get involved in the story. There are few scenes in the movie which bring a smile on the audience’s faces while watching. People tend to forget that they are smiling. The cute little innocence of Aravind, matured toughness of Swetcha, bubbliness of Renu, nagging of Aravind’s father take the audience into their worlds. People watching this film never wait for or think about what happens next. Instead, they live in the present moment and enjoy the happenings. This is something which sets Mental Madhilo to be unique and different from other films.

Besides the fresh faces and clean performances presented, the excellent direction and cinematography took the film to another level. Debutant director Vivek Athreya not only gifted Tollywood with a feel-good entertainer, but also brought out an innocent angle from Sree Vishnu and introduced beautiful actresses Nivetha Pethuraj and Amrutha Srinivasan to the industry. With the right balance of every element, Mental Madhilo is a spectacular film to be added to your watch-list if you haven’t watched it yet.
