Tollywood has been witnessing biopics of great personalities. Movies like Mahanati, NTR, Rudramadevi and more had many exquisite actors, mind-blowing graphics and brilliant crew. Some of them broke the box office collections and some failed to do so. But with a decent amount of cast, simple performances and talented crew, Mallesham hit theatres last year. Even though it has no frills, this film succeeded in inspiring and charming the audience.

Mallesham is a biopic of Chintakindi Mallesham who is a sixth-grade dropout. His passion for making an Asu machine pushed him in a path which leads to many ebbs and flows. His career from being a dropout to receiving prestigious Padma Shri award is not just inspiring but is an eye-opener to all those who give up on their dreams without putting efforts. Facing many obstacles in career, maintaining a balance in his personal life, he went through a lot to be in the position he is now. His journey and life are wonderfully depicted in Mallesham.

Mallesham is a man who didn’t dream for himself. His dreams are not just for him but his mother and all the women suffering from the same problem as her. His determination is inspired by several hitches that come in the way of weavers or those who work with handlooms.

The film as it goes on, the audience can feel the literal pain Mallesham experienced. Mallesham film doesn’t have any commercial elements added to the real story of Mallesham. Not once or twice, he failed a countless number of times. All these ups and downs were depicted clearly in the film. Though this brought a little gloominess to the movie, the hope never died. People say hope is what helps us to keep going. Mallesham served this point to the audience with his life as an exemplary example.

Many biopics might come, many stories of inspirational figures might be brought out to the theatres but Mallesham will always secure a safe place as the best and a sincere film. Till the last minute of the movie, we can see how Mallesham fights for his dream, how he carves himself to be better. He learns English using a dictionary, gains knowledge about Electronics and Engineering with the available sources. Even with limited resources, he pitched himself towards his aim. He didn’t give up considering his age or financial capability.

Priyadarshi who is already famous as a talented comedian and a best-supporting actor became closer to Telugu audience with his natural performance. Not only did he win many accolades, but he also won a chance to explore a splendid actor within him. Be it as a caring son, responsible husband or a determined person, he rocked his role. No wonder he left a huge impact in Tollywood within less time. His performance as Mallesham will be talked about for years. Ananya as Padma, Mallesham’s love and an understanding wife gave a promising performance. Her innocent looks and sweet expressions added to be a plus point. Her acting during the pregnancy scene moved everyone and that one scene is enough to appreciate her. Jhansi as Mallesham’s mother needs a separate mention. Her talent was already witnessed by the Tollywood audience long ago. But in this film, she gave her best and proved that she is a brilliant actor. The pain she expresses while working hard and doing the needful to her family is portrayed very well and the audience feels in love with her all over again.

Director Raj Rachakonda’s work is portrayed with this film’s success. His sensible writing added more beauty to the excellent casting. His writing did not elevate Mallesham as a hero but showed him as a son and a husband. Bringing a story of an unsung hero to screens is challenging work and Raj carried this excellently. The natural Telangana dialect added authenticity to the film. The music and background music scored by Robin was pleasant to listen to. As a whole, Mallesham inspired many and will continue to motivate more.
