Most of the times, we wonder how would it be if we could hire someone to be our date to an evening and that person is exactly how one would want to be and it’s Noah Centineo?
Well, then this movie is perfect for you.
Starting off with a struggling boy and how he unintentionally takes a girl out and gets paid and is struck with an idea of being the perfect date for people in need of one, this concept is new and something which may seem weird to a lot of people but it surprisingly manages to pull the viewers along with it as it takes them through the journey of Brooks and how he collects money to get into the college of his choice and how unintentionally he falls for someone he never expected.
The plot of this movie is not really cliche and a repeated storyline like most of the others but the concept of starting with fake dating and falling in love is something most of the romcom viewers absolutely adore.
This movie in spite of the loopholes it had, managed to convey things to its viewers, that sometimes it’s not all about the dreams one pursues, quiet often one dreams of being rich, being successful, studying in a perfect college, dating a perfect partner and just being the perfect person and by following those dreams one may forget what is it that one actually wants and will it satisfy them when they’ve gotten what they wanted? The answer one might get is no because not every time people reflect on the path they’ve chosen and if it’s ideal or not, this movie tells its viewers that it’s okay to settle for less if it makes you truly happy, you don’t have to pretend to fit in for others and that message is beautiful.
That said, this movie had everything a romcom could possibly have, a classy date, a messy date, a happy ending and smiles on every viewer’s and every character’s face as the movie ends, with no major drama or plot twists, this movie is simple and that is its beauty. On the whole, this film is something you can watch with a bunch of friends on a sleepover and just sit back and smile and laugh as the movie goes on.
