To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. This movie in all ways defines a typical teen life of a girl just living her life and having multiple crushes for respective periods of time and well the awkwardness.
Based on the book with the same name written by Jenny Han. This movie follows the girl Lara Jean Covey who writes a letter to the person she likes, mostly to vent her feelings, addresses it to them but never mails it, instead collects all of them. This is something relatable to most girls considering how most of them absolutely adore having little crushes on the people they find cute. But her life takes a turn when she finds out that all her letters were missing and later on finds out that they were mailed to all the crushes she ever had and it actually seems like a terrible nightmare to be completely honest. But somehow one of her letters finds Peter Kavinsky and that was the beginning of something beautiful.
Peter Kavinsky, the famous jock but he was someone who was not as bad as the other ones. He was also the person people were obsessed with not so long ago which led to Noah Centineo becoming the face of most of the romcoms produced by Netflix. This movie was surprisingly one of the few movies which had an Asian (Half Korean) as the main character in a rom-com and it also had a diverse cast.
This movie was simple at its best. It did not have overly dramatic scenes or psychotic mean girls/exes or the typical cringy awkward teen moments. It had a simple flow and the acting was done in a way where everyone who was watching the movie could relate to the character’s embarrassing movements without finding it overly done. The friendship between the main character and her friend was not bleached, in fact, they did a good job portraying how friends actually are and even when it came to sister’s bond, it did have a few ups and downs but stayed strong. The little details in the scenes were something to not miss and gave the audience a little smile and there was a certain amount of comfort it had. The background and the locations were normal and not too flashy which was somehow pleasing to the viewer’s eyes. On the whole, the fake dating trope didn’t end up on a bad note and the happy moments between the lead pair gave the viewers butterflies.
Overall this movie was every girl’s dream with just the perfect amount of drama, comedy and romance and there was Peter Kavinsky with his charming and caring attitude, just enough to steal her heart.
