Imagine a trip to a hill station with a group of people you barely know. That’s exactly how this movie was, a journey of life with situations one has seen but not faced. This film was something new with a hint of something old and a sense of familiarity.
YJHD, this film was a milestone in Bollywood being the first film with a younger cast to cross 100 crores at the box office. To say the obvious reasons for it being successful, the reasons might be something like good storyline and amazing actors. But this film was something more than just the basic context of acting and storyline, it was what it told the audience, to some it might have taught a lesson to take risks and to some it might have taught that it’s okay to take a break and relax, to some it might’ve taught how following your dreams is an expression of releasing yourselves from the shackles of being constricted and having been told what to do, while for some it might have taught the essence of friendship and how beautiful it can be and to some it might’ve taught how to be determined and to some it might have to realise the importance of having someone in your life and appreciating them. This film was something similar to what people see in their daily life, something that made them happy.
It also had amazing music, songs which stay on your mind, ranging from soft music of Subhanallah to the feet tapping songs like Badtameez Dil which are still played at parties and gatherings. The background in the movies are beautiful and pleasant to look at, let it be the snow covered mountain valleys or the streets of European cities or the beauty of The Pink City, Jaipur. The film had an amazing cast who with no exception played their roles perfectly, starting Deepika as Naina to Kalki as Aditi, Aditya Roy as Avi to Farooq Shaikh as Bunny’s dad. The story showed us Bunny and Naina and how they changed each other’s perspective of life and made each other realise what they are missing out and how they fell in love while doing so, played by Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone didn’t fail to enchant the audience with their chemistry.
On the whole, this film captivates the viewer till the very end, making them smile, cry, laugh and just enjoy the movie while it lasts.
