When a director is debuting for the first time, he should be careful with the casting, story and the genre selection. With his very first film, Ritesh Rana managed to deliver an excellent film maintaining a balance between the comedy and suspense. Very few directors can impress the audience with their debutant films and Ritesh succeeded in doing so.

Mathu Vadalara released a year ago and created a lot of buzz during its release. Well, the film is worthy of the created buzz. This film not just entertains the audience but also delivers impactful messages hidden in the movie. For the people who dig deep for the message, the film centralises around it.

Babu Mohan (Sri Simha), Yesu (Satya), Abhi (Naresh) live in a room struggling with bare minimum wages. Even though Babu and Yesu work very hard as delivery boys, they do not make much out of their salaries. A very frustrated Babu decides to leave the job. But Yesu convinces Babu to come along with him promising tricks to earn tips from the customers. Upon knowing that Yesu has been stealing money in the name of tips, Babu argues with him but gets convinced that this is the only way to earn money without leaving the job. The next day, Babu applies the method Yesu suggested but things take a sudden twist and hence the movie.

One needs to appreciate the casting of the film. Everyone blended very well in their roles. This is the debutant film for Sri Simha, M. M. Keeravani’s son. Though it is his first film as an actor, the viewers do not feel so. Not to forget Satya as Yesu, excelled in his role in such a way that the audience is convinced that nobody else can do the role better than him. Naresh’s character gets interesting with the flow of the film. His acting seemed fresh. Coming from Telugu serials, he did gain experience in the field. Some of them might be new to the industry but others are familiar faces. Actors like Vennela Kishore, Bhramaji, Jeeva, Pavala Syamala, Vidyullekha Raman did pretty well in their roles and kept the film engaging.

Many films have come with the comedy-thriller genre. And every movie is unique in its style. Mathu Vadhalara is a film which besides entertaining the audience, delivered an impactful message. Through Yesu and Babu, Ritesh Rana told the audience the importance of honesty and righteousness. And through the characters of Ravi Teja (Vennela Kishore), Myra (Athulya) and Abhi, the film talked how addictions can ruin one’s life. Using the characters, the director gave a brilliant message to the present youth.

The first half is engaging and interesting, and the second half is intriguing. Every character of the film sets the path to impact the audience. These characters seem realistic, working very hard to find a way to earn money.

The comedy puns and the concept seemed fresh and clean. One needs a little patience as the film takes its time to get into the intriguing part. Besides this, the neat presentation by the director needs a special accolade. Wonderful direction, neat cinematography and excellent writing paved the road in making a timeless film.
